Cellist ODILE BOURIN began her studies at the Paris National Superior Conservatory of Music at the age of eleven, and received her diploma with honors as a student of Philippe Muller. She then travelled to The Hague (NL) to work with Anner Bijlsma, followed by post-graduate studies in New York under the direction of Harvey Shapiro at the Juilliard School.
Returning to France, she was named co-principal cello of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, staying three years, until 1988. She then left the orchestra to dedicate herself to solo activities, teaching and chamber music. Regularly invited to participate in international festivals (Les Arcs, Ansouis, l'ANMC of Nancy, Salzburg, Kobe, Japan, Italy, Australia, ex-GDR, ex-USSR, Germany...), her commitment to teaching led her to create and publish a new cello method in 3 volumes (Henry Lemoine Editions) that has been internationally praised.
Odile Bourin is also active as a "teacher's teacher" in the training centers for dance and music teachers and in the pedagogy department of the National Superieur Conservatory of Paris. Her substantial discography is dedicated to little known and oft-neglected music. A partner of internationally renown artists such as Felicity Lott, Armin Jordan and the Quatuor Parisii, she regularly takes part in Rotary Club charitable actions (France, USA).
A member of SPEDIDAM and ADAMI, she is also chairman of the "Association Femmes et Musique, Paris". In March 2007, she gave master classes and a duet concert in Brescia, Italy. She plays a beautiful instrument by Landolfi(Milano, ca. 1780).
