Barbara Krakauer Barbara Krakauer studied violin with William Jones, a pupil of Secvik, and later with Ivan Galamian .A graduate of Julliard, she studied chamber music there with Hans Letz and Edouard Dethier, also with William Kroll at the Mannes and at Tanglewood and with Nadia Boulanger and Pierre Pasquier at Fontainebleau.

Mrs Barbara Krakauer taught at the Mannes School of Music in New York, performed regularly in Europe and North America in chamber Ensemble and established a duo with pianist Jeaneane Dowis.

Allan Kozinn wrote in the New York Times: "... Barbara Krakauer 's sound had a warm glow that conveyed a sense of inner serenity'.

After hearing one of her recitals, Zino Francescatti wrote to her "... your perfect technique and great musicality permit you to take a place among the very best interpreters of chamber music..." In 1987, he asked her to serve on the jury of his first International Competition in Aix en Provence.

Since 1977 until her death, she taught each summer in Provence a music program organized under the patronage of Zino Francescatti.

Through her teachers we can trace the musical lineage of the great performance traditions of the 19th and 20th centuries.
